All other winners will receive a certificate of participation, acknowledgement in local media, and mention on FB and HHCS Website and FASM Website and any other outlets as deemed suitable by the sponsors.
1. Entrants must submit digital files for judging.
2. No changes to your entry are permitted once the entry deadline has passed. No refunds will be issued after the entry fee is paid.
3. Entrants must reside in Ontario and not required to be members of the Fine Arts Society of Milton. Fine Arts Society of Milton members are eligible to participate.
4. Photos must be the entrant’s own and not copies or those belonging to anyone else other than on the entry form.
NOTE: photos submitted will not be used without prior consent of the entrant for purposes other than the intended use as stated in 1. Purpose as above.
1. Entrant must have captured and created the original exposure or exposures.
2. Any processing, manipulation and printing or rendering, were done by the entrant.
3. Entrants shall hold FASM and or Halton Health Care Services harmless against all claims and liabilities arising out of HHCS’s display, publication and promotion or other use of each image submitted.
4. The entrant’s name shall not appear anywhere in or on the face of the image and no watermarks shall appear on the face of the photo.
5. A maximum of five entries may be submitted per entrant.
6. The fee per entry (i.e. image submitted) is $15.00 (non-refundable).
Any entry that has been created from an existing photograph, portrait, graphic or any other artwork produced by another person is a violation of the competition rules and will not be
|judged, accepted or displayed. If an entry, in the good-faith opinion of the FASM, violates copyright, trademark or any other applicable law, that entry shall be disqualified.
Entry media includes digital files only.
Files must be sized accordingly so that the image can be reproduced to accommodate the graphic pocket measuring 30” x 60”. Graphic pocket refers to 2 acrylic panels between which the enlarged photographs are secured by 4 cylindrical metal posts in each corner of the panel (Important Note: Please be aware that the metal posts may obstruct the image.)
Each file must be a pdf, jpg JPG (preferred format; use highest quality compression when saving) or tiff, print ready: 300 dpi. Capable of enlargement without modifying the integrity of the image.
Failure to comply with these requirements may deem the image unusable.
Files are to be named in the following manner:
Last Name of Entrant, First Name of Entrant
Image # 1, Image # 2 (as per number of files submitted)
No underscores or special characters please
There are no age restrictions for this competition, however, any monetary prizes will be assigned to the parent/guardian (with proof of guardianship) of winning entrants under the age of 18.
Note: Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification of entry. The decision of the Fine Arts Society of Milton and the Halton Health Care Services is final.
HOW TO ENTER:
Each entry consists of an entry form, an entry fee and up to 5 images . The entry fee is $15 per image. Complete an entry form with the required information, including your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and a brief description of your image(s) and send entry form on-line, Fees are to be paid via e-transfer or Paypal. Images are to be transmitted via Dropbox. Details on website noted above.
There is a limit of 5 submissions per person. Each Submission must comply with the guidelines, located on the Website as well as the following requirements (the “Submission Requirements”):
|The Submission must not, at the discretion of the sponsor contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
Watermarks are unacceptable and any submissions containing watermarks will be disqualified.
Each Submission must be the submitting entrant’s own and not reproduced from any other publication or source.
Two rounds of judging will take place.
A panel of judges (selected by Sponsors) will select as many as 72 entries from among all eligible Submissions based on the following criteria:
Photographic Quality 35% and
Composition and Creativity 30%.
The Judges will collectively select a winner for each prize level based on the Judging Criteria and those entries who achieved the highest level of artistic appeal. In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be re-submitted to the Judges for a re-judging between the tied entries alone. In the event that a tie remains after re-judging, the Submission with the highest score in the creativity criteria will be declared the winner. Winners who are chosen will be notified by e-mail within 7 days of the selection.
Decisions of the Judges are final and binding. Sponsor shall have no liability for any winner notification that is lost, intercepted or not received by the potential winner for any reason. If, despite reasonable efforts, a potential prize-winner does not respond within five (5) days of the first notification attempt, or if a prize or prize notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable to such potential prize-winner, such potential prize-winner may forfeit the applicable prize and an alternate prize winner may be selected. If any potential prize-winner is found to be ineligible, or if he or she has not complied with these Official Rules or declines the applicable prize for any reason prior to award, such potential prize winner may be disqualified and an alternate winner may be selected. Sponsor may successively attempt to contact up to two (2) potential prize-winners of in accordance with such procedure, and if there is still no confirmed prize winner after such attempts have been made, if any, the applicable prize may go unawarded.
