DROP INTO THE MCA TO SEE THIS GREAT SHOW IN MAY

FEATURING FASM ARTISTS WHO GATHER ON TUESDAYS TO PAINT

CJ’s have all day breakfast and healthy and delicious lunch plus live Music, Art and More! Nearby Bronte Harbour and the boardwalk is a great place for a stroll and perhaps to glean some inspiration.

Several FASM members have shown their work there in the past. There is always the possibility that you could show work there if you speak to CJ.

DETLOR, Marion Ruth (nee Roblin) 1924-2012 Passed away peacefully at Milton hospital, on February 12th, 2012. Marion is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Jim; sons, Darcy (Julie), Jason (Audrey); daughters, Linda (Allan ), Mayla (Uwe); grandchildren, Justin (Nicole), Erin (Jamie), Megan (Tom), Katie (Virginia), Jamie, Laura, Simon, Sarah, Alanna, Lucas, Adam and great grandchildren, Austin and Greyson. She was predeceased by her sons; Perry ( Kerry ), Paul (Marg), daughter, Christine, granddaughter, Lisa (Ian), sister, Joyce and brother, Don. She will forever be in our hearts and minds.

A poem written for Marion by Jim:

When I write the wonder of her eyes,

This page doth glow and gently warm the touch.

In her heart the ember never dies.

No other Saint could ever love as much.

Marion was a past president and  a founding member of FASM.

She was an avid water colour artist.

One of her  paintings of the beloved ‘old’ library hangs in the present library.

She only took up art after retiring  from her job as a social worker.

Recently she was learning to play jazz piano and also to paint portraits.

She accompanied the MSAC Kitchen Band for awhile on the piano

and also volunteered to play the piano at Martindale.

She had taken part in Tai Chi at the Milton Seniors’ Centre for many years

and entertained the members there with wonderful memories of her life.

She was loved by us all and will be missed.

The 15th Annual
Milton Area Studio Tour, hosted by the Fine Arts Society of Milton, will take
place on Saturday and Sunday, September 29 and 30, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The free, self-directed tour features the works of 40
artists at many various local locations.
The weekend event offers visitors the chance to enjoy both the beautiful autumn
scenery of the rural countryside and view original creations offered by the
multi-talented artists.  Locally made works on display and for sale
include original paintings in oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolour; sculpture
in clay, stone, wood, cement and metals; pottery, art photography, jewellery,
fused glass, stained glass, mosaics and turned wood.  Items are figurative
and abstract, decorative and functional.

 The brochure
will be available in mid June, 2012.
