On Thursday, March 12 at 7pm, we celebrated the remarkable accomplishments of 22 young artists and their mentors at the Opening Reception for their special Exhibit at the FirstOntario Arts Centre of Milton. His Worship Mayor Krantz, and guests were on hand to say a few congratulatory words and celebrate an extraordinary cohort of artists.
The FASM Youth Visual Arts Mentoring Project (YVAMP) is for young artists who would like to pursue art as a career or to develop their artistic skills further. The program brings together professional artists and youth in a 5-workshop series using a mentorship format to teach students about art, the creative process and portfolio preparation which calumniates in a 3-week gallery exhibition. YVAMP is open to 25 young adults. Students are not required to have previous experience or training, simply a passion to explore the arts, a desire to learn new techniques and participate in actively creating art.
We’re working on YVAMP 2023! While we have not had the traditional in-class structure for 2021-2022 in compliance with health guidelines, we will be resuming this wonderful program. Please stay tuned!
